From what you write, your beliefs about WaveLab are more reliable than my tests.
I have already written (post 42,43,50,58) about the difference in sensitivity between XN (original condition) and XP, when I tested them in workshop conditions
both same IF 1320 Mhz, on at least of 2 XN and XP devices.
Back then it surprised me too and I considered it a difference to the HMC967's used in XN and XP.
Just take a test to prove your 'faith' , which will please those who spent more money on XP.
